Reaching National Curriculum targets
Our workshops are a one-stop shop for a whole range of National Curriculum targets. Our awe-inspiring locations and fascinating tours will ignite curiosity in a past world and will enable pupils to explore connections between the past and present as well as developing an appreciation of global interconnectivity through religion, society and trade. Both the Lion Salt Works and Norton Priory workshops will bring to life a fascinating story full of vivid characters and events to inspire and fascinate. Through their learning pupils will be encouraged to appreciate the skills, creativity and tenacity of past populations living in difficult times and their journey through time will help to encourage in each pupil a sense of curiosity and a love of learning.
Pupils will need to clarify their understanding in order to use their knowledge to explore places, people and times then use their imagination to create characters and develop narratives to feed into their performances. They will be supported and guided through the composition process enabling them to articulate and communicate their ideas effectively for their audience.
Our workshops most clearly link to local and national history but also cover elements of Geography, citizenship and support the development of both written and spoken language and communication skills. We cover a wide range of personal development skills (more in “Personal Development”) and the workshops have been shown to inspire pupils in their creative writing and other wider subjects back at school.
Developing skills, finding strengths, building confidence, inspiring creativity.
